Pet Boarding PROCEDURES

WHERE SMALL DOGS RULE

We provide services to small breeds that are 22 pounds or less and if they grow, they must not exceed 30 pounds, but we start at 22 pounds or less on first visit.  We do have exceptions with short overweight pets.  All dogs must be 18 inches or less from the top of their shoulders to the floor to be accepted for services.  We do not have walk-thru's of our facility, our place is kennel free and my furry kids roam the facility at any given time.  For their safety, we do not allow humans, other than staff to enter the premises.  Our kids are quiet and we do our very best to make it bark free, the second reason we do not allow strangers in the yard, small dogs will protect their property and will bark uncontrollably and loudly.  Thank you for understanding.

Why board at Barks and Purrs?

We provide a kennel free environment.  All pets serviced by us must undergo a temperament screening and if they pass they will have fun with our daycare pets on a daily basis.  If your pet(s) would rather be alone, they are kept in the office and back rooms to roam freely about. When the daycare pets have gone for the day, the shy boarders will be taken outside to play and stretch.  All pets are safely secured in the back yard of our facility. While you're away, your pet is now our furry friend to love and cuddle with. 

Our facility is a unique set up to resemble a home environment.  We strive to make your pet(s) comfortable as possible.  However, this is not a residence, all staff members have a home to go to.  A staff member will always be onsite and live among the pets while boarding at this facility.

Boarding minimum is 2 or more days, we do not accept single day boarding.

 Please plan your boarding dates accordingly.  Remember that we are closed on Sundays, so we will not accept or discharge pets on Sundays, Holidays and Eve's (Christmas and New Years).

• First time boarding with our company will require an overnight assessment at least 2 weeks prior your scheduled vacation.  Your pet would be dropped off at 4 pm and pickup by 10 am the next morning.  Assessment must be passable to schedule a boarding period.  Assessments are by appointment only on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays.

• We provide services to dogs that are 30 pounds or less however, all dogs must be 22 pounds or less and if they are still growing, not to exceed 30 pounds.  We do have exceptions with short overweight pets.  All dogs must be 18 inches or less from the top of their shoulders to the floor to be accepted  for services. 

• All male dogs must be neutered after 4-6 months of age, depending on your veterinarian's policy.  

FEMALE DOGS

Female dogs may wait up to six to nine months and have their first heat session.  Female dogs will not be allowed to daycare or board if they are in heat.  If they go nt heat while in boarding stage, an additional $20 per day will be added to the boarding fee.  If the owner decides to breed the pet after nine months, pet will unfortunately have to be removed from the faclity.

Vaccinations record is MANDATORY for all services.

•  Canines: DHLPP (D-Distemper, H-Hepatitis, L-Leptospirosis, P-Parainfluenza, and P-Parvovirus).  Bordetella (kennel cough) is required within 12 months of visit.  Fecal and Heartworm testing are also required.  

Note:  Please inform the hospital receptionist to only  email us the one or two page report and "NOT" the entire history of your pet.  The computer will not allow more than three pages through and we will never know if they were sent.

• Monthly flea, tick and heart worm prevention required.  
• All pets are examined at all arrivals and if deemed to have fleas or ticks, you will be notified.  We are able to provide a flea bath and owner will be charged accordingly to severity of infestation.  
• Please have your veterinarian email all current vaccinations and heartworm/fecal/flea administration to barksandpurrs2018@gmail.com  We do not accept copies from the client as proof of record.
